I really like going to churches. They provide a sensation that no other manmade building does. It has the feel of a great cave. They’re usually cold, feel almost musty, dark. It really does inspire awe. Particularly I enjoyed the symmetry of Austrian churches. Everything was balanced, composed, planned, poised. Their selective use of color emphasized specific points in churches that normally wouldn’t have caught the eye. Churches are incredible works of art, you can view them a hundred different ways and still not see every detail.
